The University of Sarajevo - one of the Seven Universities from the World Participating in the UNESCO debate “(Re)thinking the Commons, Acting Together”
The University of Sarajevo has the honor of being one of the seven world universities that have been selected to be part of the large and globally significant UNESCO debate: “(Re)thinking the commons, acting together.”
On Wednesday, at the UNSA Faculty of Political Sciences on 8 November 2023, a discussion was held on the topic “(Re)Thinking Common Goods: Acting Together” as a kind of contribution to the UN General Conference, which will be held on Thursday, 9 November in Paris. In the opening speech, the Faculty of Political Sciences Dean, Prof. Dr. Sead Turčalo, Vice-Dean for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Sanela Šadić and Mr. Siniša Šešum, head of the UNESCO Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina - UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, while the program leader was Amina Vatreš, assistant at the Department of Communication and PR manager of the Faculty of Political Science UNSA.
After the inspiring lecture held by Prof. Dr. Sarina Bakić (Faculty of Political Sciences UNSA) and Prof. Dr. Amila Ždralović (UNSA Faculty of Law), followed by a constructive discussion in which students had the opportunity to exchange opinions on globally relevant issues and social problems and offer their own understanding of ways and actions towards joint long-term solutions. The permanent result of this globally relevant debate will be the recommendations of the University of Sarajevo students, which will be presented at the UN General Conference.
