University of Sarajevo Library Gets Its Roof: Installation and Interior Work Continue Dynamically
After successfully completing reinforced concrete and masonry works, the construction of the University Library on the University of Sarajevo campus continues at a vigorous pace through a series of key phases.
Currently, roofing works are in full swing, which will ensure the protection of the entire building. Simultaneously, intensive work is underway on mechanical installations, plumbing and sewage systems, and electrical wiring, laying the foundation for modern communal infrastructure. At the same time, the interior of the library is taking final shape through construction and craftsmanship works, including the installation of metal elements, plastering, and other interior interventions that will give the space functionality and aesthetic value.
This major project, one of the most significant post-war investments in university infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is being realized thanks to a grant from the Saudi Development Fund.
Assessing the progress so far, Nihad Uk, Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton, stated: “This library will be a modern institution that will significantly improve conditions for the work and study of students and professors at the University of Sarajevo.”
The university library, whose construction began in December last year, is destined to become the heart of a modern campus. In addition to providing contemporary conditions for study and research, the campus will also include sports, cultural, and other social facilities, aiming to position Sarajevo as a regional university city.
Prime Minister Uk emphasized that despite years of blockade, authorities did not give up on the idea, and expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, which is proceeding according to plan.
This project is the most visible bridge of friendship between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, strengthening international cooperation and serving as a model for future joint ventures.
The Sarajevo Canton’s plan remains to secure funds for the swift continuation of other segments of the campus construction, so that students are provided with all necessary resources in one place—an integrated approach that will be a source of pride not only for the city but for the entire country.
