Prof. Dr. Ivo Josipović gave a lecture at the Faculty of Criminology and Security Studies at the University of Sarajevo
On the occasion of the opening of the doctoral study for the 2018/2019 generation, on Tuesday, 12 February 2019, prof. Dr. Ivo Josipović gave a public lecture at the Faculty of Criminology and Security Studies, University of Sarajevo on the topic “Criminal responsibility for war crimes.”
“This subject has been unfortunately ongoing since ancient times and unfortunately it will stay with humanity for many years and centuries. I hope less and less, although it seems that current and not only current political events deny it. Unfortunately, there has always been a crime, as there were wars, and the question arises as to how society responds to it” said Professor Josipović said at the beginning of the lecture.
Former President of the Republic of Croatia and university professor Dr. Ivo Josipović pointed out that it is extremely important to talk about this topic “because every war criminal is expected to be punished, which means in fact the progress of humanity and a better life for future generations.”
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj expressed deep gratitude to Professor Josipović, pointing out that “Ivo Josipović is a statesman of the international profile so that his lecture in front of students and academic staff is of great importance.”
"The topic of today's lecture is extremely important, but this is more often written in foreign media than in our country. As an academic and scientific community, we must engage in the process of researching all the positive and negative things happening in society, and try to make some recommendations, in order to maximally work on the elimination of weaknesses in the investigation of crimes, in particular the war crimes that Prof. Dr Ivo Josipović spoke of today,” concluded Prof. Dr. Nedžad Korajlić Faculty Dean.
