Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Youth of the Canton of Sarajevo Visits the Centre for Research and Development and the Service for Research and Development at UNSA
On 14 May 2024, a meeting was held between Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Youth of the Canton of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Adna Mesihović, and staff from the Centre for Research and Development and the Service for Research and Development at the University of Sarajevo. The delegation from the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Youth included Mrs. Azemina Njuhović, Assistant Minister of Science, and Mrs. Dženita Viteškić, Assistant Minister of Higher Education.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss current activities in the scope of work on research and development at the University of Sarajevo, as well as plans for improving cooperation between the University and the Ministry. The activities of the University were presented by Prof. Dr. Maja Arslanagić-Kalajdžić, Director of the Centre for Research and Development, and Mrs. Nina Begović, Head of the Service for Research and Development at the University of Sarajevo.
The Director of the Centre for Research and Development informed the Minister about current activities and development plans in the direction of strengthening capacities for supporting members of the University in the area of technology transfer, preparation, and implementation of development projects, project management through a new platform for project support ProMIS, and creation of an Open Research Network at the University of Sarajevo.
The meeting also presented data on project activities at the University and support activities provided to researchers by the Centre for Research and Development and the Service for Research and Development. The importance of leading institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the University of Sarajevo, was emphasized in the context of participation in European funds for research and higher education, as well as available domestic programs for funding research activities.
The topic of discussion also included future plans and activities on strategic projects at the University of Sarajevo, aimed at continuous improvement of scientific capacities at the University.
Minister Mesihović emphasized her satisfaction with the presented activities and results at the University of Sarajevo, and expressed her support for project-based, research-based, and development activities at the University. The importance of cooperation between the University and the Ministry was highlighted, as well as the importance of continued investment in science and research activities in Canton Sarajevo.
