Five-day international student exchange within the program “Circular Business Models and Enabling Urban Infrastructures in Sarajevo” ended

A five-day international student exchange has ended, implemented within the program Circular Business Models and Enabling Urban Infrastructures in Sarajevo, jointly implemented by the University of Sarajevo and HafenCity University Hamburg, in cooperation with partner institutions.
The program was designed as a bilateral and interdisciplinary academic process, which brought together students of architecture and economics and professors from both universities through joint academic work, professional presentations and field visits to relevant institutions, city services and industrial actors. Through the exchange of knowledge and experiences, the participants addressed the topics of sustainable development, circular economy, passive construction, biodesign, digital solutions and modern urban policies.
The exchange showed how universities, public institutions, the civil sector and the economy can jointly contribute to the development of sustainable and circular solutions, and to strengthening capacities for green transition at the local and regional levels.
We thank all lecturers, hosts and partner institutions for their exceptional cooperation and openness, as well as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for its financial support and the Deutsche Gesellschaft for Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) for its co-financing and long-term support for international academic cooperation focused on sustainability.
The exchange continues with a study visit of University of Sarajevo students to Hamburg in February 2026, further confirming the long-term nature of this academic cooperation.
