EUROPEAN UNION AND GERMAN GOVERNMENT SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF ADVENTURE TOURISM IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
EU4BUSINESS TOURISM PROJECT
Within the project “Magic Climbing Areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, on 5 November 2020, ten memoranda of cooperation were signed with the municipalities that became partners of the project. The total value of the project is more than 340,000 BAM, of which the European Union through EU4Business has provided grants in the amount of more than 275,000 BAM. The project will contribute to the development of adventure tourism and complement it with a new, branded tourism product. Local communities and end users, such as hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops and sports equipment stores, as well as numerous seasonal and other tourism workers, will benefit from the increased number of tourists and visitors upon completion of the project. The project “Magic Climbing Areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina” is implemented by a project team consisting of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education Sarajevo, Mountaineering Association "Fasto" and IT company Rebus d.o.o. Sarajevo.
There are currently more than 35 million climbers in the world who will be very interested in Bosnia and Herzegovina's untouched nature, challenging rocks, the possibility of staying and accommodation in nature, and the connection with other offers of adventure tourism. In addition to setting up the climbing area, the project also plans to train twenty climbing instructors and create IT tools: web platforms and mobile applications. These tools and the "Network for the Promotion of Adventure Tourism in the Region" will help popularize, promote and market the new tourist offer.
