The Dean's Conference of Regional Veterinary Medicine Higher Education Institutions Held
On the initiative of the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhamed Smajlović, the Dean's Conference of regional veterinary medicine higher educational institutions was held.
In the Conference actively participated:
- Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Belgrade, presented by Prof. Dr. Slađan Nešić, Vice Dean for Cooperation with the Economy and Prof. Dr. Milan Maletić, Vice Dean for Clinical Work;
- Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ljubljana, represented by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Breda Jakovac Strajn, Prof. Dr. Andrej Kirbiš, vice dean for economic and financial affairs and Prof. Dr. Modest Vengušt, vice dean for clinical activities;
- Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - Skopje, “St. Cyril and Methodius” University of Skopje, presented by Dean, Prof. Dr. Lazo Pendovski, Prof. Dr. Ksenija Ilijevska, Vice Dean for Teaching, Prof. Dr. Iskra Cvjetković, Vice Dean for Finance, Prof. Dr. Miro Kosevski, Vice Dean for Science and International cooperation and Prof. Dr. Dean Jankuloski, head of the Food Institute;
- Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb, represented by Dean, Prof. Dr. Marko Samardžija, Prof. Dr. Nino Mačešić, Vice Dean for science, postgraduate studies and international cooperation, Prof. Dr. Hrvoje Capak, Vice Dean for financial operations and investments and Prof. Dr. Marko Pećin, Vice Dean for Studies in English and Lifelong Learning.
The host of the conference, University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, was represented by Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhamed Smajlović and Vice-Dean for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Sabina Šerić-Haračić, Vice Dean for Research, Prof. Dr. Nejra Hadžimusić, Vice Dean for Teaching and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Rizah Avdić, Vice Dean for Finance, Prof. Dr. Jasmin Omeragić and Vice Dean for Quality Assurance, Prof. Dr. Davor Alagić.
The conference was opened by the University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, and the work plan was presented by Dean Prof. Dr. Muhamed Smajlović. The Conference agenda included constructive discussions and agreements on issues of identification of common interests and obstacles in the work, as well as the activities and content of multilateral cooperation.
The result of the open and friendly dialogue of all participants of the Conference was the signing of the multilateral Agreement on Cooperation, as well as the adoption of the Declaration of the Dean's Conference. The declaration is intended to point out to all actors of veterinary medicine and the general public of the region the importance and contribution of veterinary faculties to the stability and prosperity of the entire society and countries, as well as the need for more adequate recognition of academic institutions of veterinary medicine as strategic partners of public importance.
