Academy of Performing Arts of the University of Sarajevo Celebrated Its 44th Anniversary

With a ceremonial session of the Teaching-Artistic Council, on December 12th at the Youth Theatre Sarajevo, the Academy of Performing Arts of the University of Sarajevo marked its 44th year of operation.

On this occasion, Dean Prof. Mr. Faruk Lončarević highlighted a series of successful projects and achievements by professors and students of the Academy of Performing Arts, realized over the past four years of his mandate.

During the session, awards were presented to the best students of the previous academic year, including Hana Grđan from the Acting Department, Zoja Perović from the Directing Department, Berina Mušanović from the Dramaturgy Department, and Emilija Novaković from the Production and Management Department in the field of performing arts.

The "Prof. Sanja Burić" Award in the category of Movement/Dance/KPG was awarded to Nedim Šuvalić, a student of the Acting Department.

The "Dr. Razija Lagumdžija" Award for the most successful pedagogical, artistic, and scientific work was given to v. ass. Selma Spahić from the Directing Department, as well as to Prof. Amra Bakšić Čamo from the Production Department, and Prof. Admir Glamočak from the Acting Department.

The Dean’s acknowledgment for artistic and scientific research work and significant contribution to the development of the Academy of Performing Arts was awarded to Assistant Professor Alma Ferović Fazlić from the Acting Department.

Special acknowledgments for significant contribution to the realization of the teaching process were presented to Prof. Dr. Enit Nakaš from Orthodontics, Dr. Aida Volić from the ENT Department, the Multimedia Cultural Center of CZK, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Sarajevo, and the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH for the project "Transfer of knowledge, skills, and experience from the diaspora to institutions and public agencies in BiH."

Thanks were also given to retired professors of the Academy: Ana Babić, Osman Arslanagić, and Mirsad Purivatra, for their long-standing pedagogical work and contribution to the development of the Academy of Performing Arts.

The ceremonial session was attended by the Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović.

Over the past decades, the Academy has shaped numerous generations of artists and has been a key factor in the development of the local cultural scene. Even today, it remains one of the most important institutions in the region.
