110 UNSA Faculty of Health Studies students successfully completed the BLS course at JU ZHMP KS
Following the strategic commitments of the University of Sarajevo and international trends in innovation in education for health professions, in cooperation with the Institute of Emergency Medicine of Sarajevo Canton, the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Sarajevo funded the BLS/AED course (Basic Life Support) using AED - Automatic External Defibrillator) for 110 final year students, all first cycle study programs.
The course includes training and acquisition of skills necessary for basic life support, i.e. artificial respiration and external cardiac massage, in accordance with the CPR GUIDELINES 2015, with the application of AED which is the standard in Europe and the world, care for the unconscious, ways to deal with airway obstruction, bleeding and stop bleeding, first aid for the injured, getting acquainted with all types of injuries and their care at the level of first aid.
As a teaching base of the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Sarajevo, JU Institute for Emergency Medical Aid of Sarajevo Canton with its teaching staff, students of the Faculty of Health Studies in Sarajevo through their entire education provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of emergency medical care in accordance with international guidelines.
Education for 110 students in the premises of the Education Center of the Public Institution ZHMP KS was conducted successfully in the period from 22 February to 10 March 2021 in accordance with the prescribed hygienic and epidemiological measures.
Upon completion of the training program, all trained students received a certificate of competence for the application of basic life support measures.
Providing BLS/AED courses for final year students is in line with the commitment of the Faculty of Health Studies in Sarajevo to educate quality, capable, creative and internationally competent staff in health care through the most modern methods of teaching, learning and research.
