The 10th International Conference “Sarajevo and the World”
The International Forum Bosnia organized the 10th International Conference “Sarajevo and the World: Sarajevo in Europe: Society, Culture, and Geopolitics” on May 14-15, 2024, at the University of Sarajevo.
The first day of the conference was marked by the presentation of the program and four issues of the Forum Bosna journal, celebrating 25 years of the International Forum Bosnia's existence and issue 104/23: “Paratextuality in Bosnian Medieval Literature”. The speakers included Mile Babić, Krsto Mijanović, Fatima Veispahić, Desmond Maurer, and Rusmir Mahmutćehajić.
The second day of the conference began with a ceremonial opening and welcome speeches by Prof. Dr. Jasna Duraković, Federal Minister of Education and Science, and Samir Avdić, Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo. Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, Rector of the University of Sarajevo, delivered an opening address highlighting the role of the University in deconstructing anti-Bosnian projects and developing Bosnian-Herzegovinian society.
The first discussion panel focused on the geopolitics of Bosnian-Herzegovinian membership in the European Union, while the second discussion panel focused on Sarajevo as a symbol of everything Bosnian-Herzegovinian, a European city in global politics.
The program was implemented in cooperation with the International Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the University of Sarajevo, the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, the Canton of Sarajevo Government, and the City of Sarajevo.
