An exhibition dedicated to the Hungarian Doctor Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis
On Wednesday, 6 March 2019, at the premises of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sarajevo, an exhibition dedicated to Dr. Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis, a Hungarian doctor known as the “Savior of Mothers”, “the pioneer of the antiseptic procedure” and “the father of infection control” was opened and held on the occasion of marking 200 years since his birth. Dr. Semmelweis is an actor of one of the most fascinating chapters in the history of preventive medicine - the discovery of iatrogenic diseases, and the exhibition was supported by the Embassy of Hungary in Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the Hungarian Culture Week and the International Winter Festival Sarajevo.
Among the attendees was H. E. Krisztián Pósa, Ambassador of Hungary to Bosnia and Herzegovina, who expressed gratitude to the Faculty of Medicine for his hospitality and cooperation, after which he formalized the opening of the exhibition.
After the opening, the guests had a look at the documentary about the life, contribution and work of Dr. Semmelweis, as well as the photographs exhibited in the aula of the Faculty.
