First General Assembly of the Western Balkans Alumni Association
The Western Balkans Alumni Association (WBAA) is a regional association of former beneficiaries of mobility programs funded by the European Union's education and training program (eg. Erasmus Mundus, Erasmus+, Marie Sklodowska-Curie, etc.). Officially established in March 2018 in Ohrid (Northern Macedonia), the WBAA emerged from the platform of the European Union for the Western Balkans on education and training in 2014, where education ministers of six countries of the Western Balkans agreed on the need to establish a regional network of former students. Today, this association gathers all relevant actors in the Western Balkans to ensure that the voices of young people in the region are heard loud and clear.
On that occasion, the first Regional General Assembly was held from 14 to 16 March 2019 in Tirana, Albania. In addition to the representatives of the European Commission, almost 200 representatives from the region (students, academic and administrative staff of higher education institutions, as well as representatives of governmental institutions) attended the assembly, who at one time benefited from the mentioned programs or actively participated in the promotion of European values.
The University of Sarajevo was represented by M.Sc. Adnan Rahimić, international cooperation expert, as well as many current and former UNSA students and staff who have had the opportunity to use European scholarships and stay abroad.
