At the Faculty of Islamic Sciences on the tefsir study lectures of in the Malay world and on Islam in the United States
Norbani Binti Ismail, lecturer at the International Islamic University of Malaysia and Dr. Ermin Sinanović, research and academic programs director at the International Institute for Islamic Thinking (IIIT) and director of the Fairfax Institute were guest lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Sarajevo on 17 and 18 December 2018.
Dr. Norbani’s research includes the classical and modern interpretation of the Quran. She obtained her MA and PhD dissertation at the International Islamic University in Malaysia with an emphasis on Tefsir. During this visit, Norbani visited the Faculty and gave a lecture on the topic of Tafsir in the Malay world. Dr. Ermin Sinanović was an assistant professor at the Political Science Department at the US Military Academy in Annapolis. He graduated from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (Qur'an and Sunnet, Political Science), and MA studies at the International Institute for Islamic Thinking and Civilization (ISTAC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He obtained a master's degree and a doctorate in political science at Maxwell University in Syracuse. His research interests include transnational Islamic revival, revival and reform in Islam, Islamic political thought, Southeast Asian politics, Islam and politics in general.
During this visit, Sinanović gave a lecture on Islam in the USA. The lectures were attended by students of the second cycle of studies, Master in Islamic Studies and Master Program in English - Islam in Europe, as well as students of the first cycle of studies of the final years with three programs.
