Organizational Units Touring Continued
The first week of official UNSA tour was completed on 3 November 2017. UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Skrijelj and Vice-Rectors, Prof. Drs. Aida Hodzic, Maida Cohodar Husic, Aleksandra Nikolic and Zijad Mehic were visiting University of Sarajevo organizational units during the past week.
Today, Faculties of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies and Food Sciences and Agriculture were visited and meetings held with respective Deans: Prof. Drs. Nedzad Korajlic and Zlatan Saric, vice-deans, secretaries and chiefs of faculty services. In today’s visits, Rector Skrijelj continued reviewing the current situation with the aim of continuous UNSA development and noting possible difficulties and cooperation improving.
Rector Skrijelj informed Deans that due to young academic staff lacking, “The Employment Project of 200 assistants - the best University of Sarajevo students” was drafted and sent to the Sarajevo Canton Government for approval.
One of topics discussed was the Law on Higher Education of Sarajevo Canton implementation. It was emphasized that the University of Sarajevo started implementing the Law, however it will register all the shortcomings or parts of the Law that are not feasible within the deadlines and, through their representatives in the Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of the Law on Higher Education, delegate proposals for Law improvement or amendment by urgent procedure.
Considering that both Faculties are located in the UNSA Campus, the special attention is paid to discussing on the organization and tiding up the Campus space, which will include the repair of the fence and horticultural editing in cooperation with the Faculty of Forestry. The realization of those activities within the Campus depends on the collected offers of “Rad” and “Park” Communal Utility Companies, after which the elected teams from both sides will specify the dynamics of activities.
Faculties that are visited have extremely developed international cooperation, and the importance of organizing the conference of the European Criminological Association of BiH, which will be held in Sarajevo next year, is expected to be attended by approx. 1,500 leading experts from all over the world. The UNSA management congratulated to the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences on the success during the last Erasmus+ call for capacity building. The University of Sarajevo is the holder of the only approved co-ordination project in BiH “Initiative for Urban Agriculture of the Western Balkans”, which has been prepared and will be implemented by the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences.
