A scientific article entitled “Inflammatory Reaction and Formation of Adhesions after Intraperitoneal Application of Biological SIS Mesh” was published in the highly ranked journal Journal of The Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons (JSLS) (Web of Science Q2, IF 1.8), authored by Prof. Dr. Samir Delibegović, Dr. Enes Idrizović, Prof. Dr. Muhamed Katica, Prof. Dr. Jasminka Mustedanagić, Prof. Dr. Elmir Čičkušić, Dr. Aida Katica-Bešić and Dr. Haris Kuralić. The authors are researchers from the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Tuzla - Faculty of Medicine, all from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The scientific article investigates the mechanisms of the inflammatory reaction and the potential formation of adhesions after intraperitoneal application of biological mesh. The research involves an experimental study using laboratory animals, rats, as an animal model, through which, for the first time in our country and region, the potential biocompatibility of biological mesh in the repair of defects in the abdominal wall and peritoneum was assessed. These results contribute to a better understanding of the biocompatibility of biological mesh and its possible use in human and veterinary surgery.
