A round table on transition held at the University of Sarajevo
This year, the University of Sarajevo marks its 70th anniversary and 15th anniversary of Bologna implementation. This significant jubilee is marked by a series of events and activities, including the organization of a series of round tables, academic meetings and workshops.
On 13 June, within the Enrollment Promotion Project, the University of Sarajevo organized a roundtable “Transition from secondary to higher education”, which aims to raise the issue of learning as a very specific and complex process of acquiring knowledge.
Welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Aida Hodžić, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs, emphasizing a most disturbing phenomenon that has been noticed lately: in the final stage of the formal education process, a large number of people enter without a knowledge of the learning method, and without a developed awareness that learning is not short mechanical action, but a long-lasting and, sometimes, a painstaking process that as such requires time and knowledge of the mechanisms and methods for which future students, for some reason, remain deprived.
The participants were Prof. Dr. Amir Pušina and Dr. Merima Zukić, Department of Pedagogy, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Kasim Tatić, Department of Microeconomics at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, Vedran Zubić, geography professor in the Dobrinja High School, Amela Gušić, Assistant at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Sarajevo and President of the Association of Winners of the Golden Badge of the University of Sarajevo, and Amila Čengić, Association of High School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Participant Amila Čengić spoke about the topic “Nobody taught me to learn,” after which Prof. Dr. Amir Pušina had a lecture on learning as a creative process, and some internal and external factors. Prof. Dr. Kasim Tatić spoke with the Z generation and their ways of learning, while the importance of stimulating metacognitive skills and intrinsic motivation in the continuous learning process was pointed out by Dr. Merima Zukić. Vedran Zubić spoke on the topic “Cognitive cognition and causal learning of high school students as a predisposition of the application of knowledge in scientific development.” Amela Gušić had a presentation on the transition from secondary to higher education for students of technical Faculties.
