Reception for the UNSA Faculty of Law Price Moot team on the occasion of pariticpating in the International Competition in Oxford
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj received at the University of Sarajevo Rectorate the Price Moot team from the UNSA Faculty of Law together with the Faculty’s Vice Dean for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Razija Mešević.
The reception was organized due to the team’s 3rd place in the regional round of the “Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition” for Central and Eastern Europe and placement in the final, international round, which will be held at the University of Oxford in March 2023.
On this occasion, Rector Škrijelj congratulated the team on their success, stressing that their outstanding result is also the success of the UNSA Faculty of Law, the University of Sarajevo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Pointing out the significance and magnitude of their victory, Rector Škrijelj pointed out that this kind of success shows that the University of Sarajevo educates outstanding students, but also that it has an exceptionally high-quality teaching staff that is dedicated to students and their activities.
The University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Law team consisting of: senior assistants Tahir Herenda and Nasir Muftić and assistant Adna Škamo (coaches), and students: Abela Rastoder, Maša Fazlić, Sanin Delalić and Petar Lučić, in a match against the ELTA University team (Budapest ) for 3rd place in the regional round of the “Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition” for Central and Eastern Europe won a convincing victory and at the same time qualified for the final, international round that will be held at the University of Oxford in March 2023.
Team member Abela Rastoder was declared the 5th best speaker of this regional round.
The Faculty of Law team from 01/12 to 03/12/2022 competed with 11 other teams in the regional round “Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition” for Central and Eastern Europe, which was held at the Faculty of Law of ELTE University in Budapest.
The “Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition” is a competition of an international character, which includes a trial simulation in the field of media law, with a special focus on issues of freedom of expression and information technologies in society.
The competition is organized in such a way that students comparatively research legal standards at the national, regional and international level and develop their arguments (in written and oral form) on the most modern issues of media law and the application of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in a specific hypothetical case.
The competition consists of seven regional rounds (South Asia, Asia-Pacific, Southeast Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Americas) and a selective international round held in Oxford.
In previous years, the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Law team recorded excellent successes, the biggest of which was achieved in 2021, by winning first place in the regional round of the competition and 8th place in the international, final round in Oxford in competition with 80 law faculties from around the world.
This year, two members of last year's team of the Faculty of Law (Enida Dučić and Din Buljević) were also judges at the regional round in Budapest.
The participation of the Faculty of Law team in this regional competition was supported by the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the University of Sarajevo.
