UNSA Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović, visited the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (INGEB) on Friday, 16 February 2018. Vice-Rector Husremović met with INGEB director, Prof. Dr. Naris Poiskić and laboratory chiefs who presented the basic research of INGEB's laboratories.
Director Pojskić presented the method of work and the infrastructure with which the Institute possesses, emphasizing the excellent results of this institution despite the constantly present problem of lack of funds for the procurement of scientific research equipment. They also discussed the plans and future activities of INGEB, as well as the upcoming marking of the INGEB’s 30th anniversary. Vice-Rector Husremović emphasized the full support of the University of Sarajevo for the activities of this university research institution whose activity is multilayered and significant for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The INGEB’s activities represent a significant factor in the network of various forms and levels of international scientific and technical cooperation, i.e. knowledge transfer and biotechnology at the regional and world level. Due to INGEB's initiative and wider affirmation of its associates, BiH was admitted to the appropriate UN system, whereas the Institute was promoted to the formal affiliate center ICGEB - International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
