A meeting was held between the representatives of the Association of Croatian Students "Pleter" and the University of Sarajevo
Representatives of the Association of Croatian Students "Pleter" President Ante Kelavić, President of the Assembly Davor Puljić and project coordinator Dražen Janko visited the University of Sarajevo on 16 April 2021, where they met with Rector, Prof. dr. Rifat Škrijelj, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović, Student-Vice-Rector Valida Abdagić, Secretary General Kenan Filipović and Head of the Teaching Service Saša Madacki.
On that occasion, a two-hour working-consultative meeting was held during which the representatives of "Pleter" presented the work of the association, which aims to raise student living standards, exercise all student and human rights, preserve their identity, organize educational, cultural, entertainment and sports events, study trips, cooperation with educational institutions in BiH and abroad, and cooperation with non-governmental organizations in BiH and abroad.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the ways and models of student organization in the Sarajevo Canton, as well as the student standard and the possibilities of its improvement. It is especially important to emphasize the efforts of the association "Pleter" in improving the standards of students members of Pleter who are in need and to whom the association with its exceptional engagement provided fifteen scholarships, as well as one-time financial assistance totaling more than 60 thousand BAM and part-time employment for students.
In addition to discussing respect for human rights at UNSA, one of the topics was the harmonization of the academic calendar of the University of Sarajevo with the religious needs of students of the Roman Catholic faith. On this occasion, the representatives of Pleter sent an initiative to the Senate of the University of Sarajevo to be included in the academic calendar on 25, 26 and 27 December as non-working days. Also, the representatives of Pleter gave written support for additional holidays and for students of other denominations.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the establishment of dialogue and future cooperation.
The community of Croatian students "Pleter" was founded in December 2018 as an independent and autonomous student community that brings together Croatian students from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina and certain parts of the Republic of Croatia who study at the University of Sarajevo.
