Memorandum of Understanding between University of Technology MARA and University of Sarajevo Signed

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Academic, Cultural and Scientific Cooperation, Friendly Relations and Staff Exchanges between the University of Technology Mara from Malaysia and the University of Sarajevo was held at the University of Sarajevo’s Rectorate on 27 September 2019.

The Memorandum, signed by Professor Emeritus Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim, University of Technology Vice Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, envisages establishing cooperation programs in areas of interest to both institutions. Collaboration will take place through networking and mutual exchange of teachers and staff to teach, visit and share experiences; exchange of undergraduate and graduate students; and jointly organizing conferences, symposia, congresses, seminars, courses.

Rector Škrijelj pointed out that the University of Sarajevo is a well-established university working on strengthening its scientific research capacities and developing international cooperation. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, as stated by Rector Škrijelj, represents a step towards future forms of cooperation in different fields and opens possibilities for increasing the mobility of both students and professors of both universities so that they can acquire new knowledge and exchange experiences.

University of Technology Mara (UiTM) is a reputable university that excels in research and international collaboration, as stated by Vice Chancellor Professor Emeritus Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim. He also emphasized that UiTM is Malaysia’s largest state university founded in 1956.

During the meeting, the importance of internationalization and international relations was discussed. The meeting was attended by the University of Sarajevo Vice-Rectors: Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić and Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, as well as University of Technology Mara representatives: Prof. Ts. Dr. Haji Mohamad Kamal Haji Harun, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Internationalization, Prof. Dr. Normah Omar, Director of Accounting Research Institute, Prof. Azizul Halim Yahya, Dean, Faculty of Mass Communication and Media studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haslinda Yusof, Dean, Institute of Graduates Study, Dr. Hajah Zainab Hj Mohd Noor, Director, Office of International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Jamaliah Said, Deputy Director of Accounting Research Institute, Assoc.
