International Networks and Associations

Networks and associations are usually consortia of higher education institutions established to foster cooperation and build capacities through joint activities and project initiatives. Membership in international networks and associations strengthens European and global research institutions and contributes to the development of the international profile of the university. Furthermore, by joining such networks, an institution gains access to various funding opportunities and platforms for initiating projects, as well as organizing seminars, conferences, congresses, and similar events. Some networks are the result of international commitments signed by Bosnia and Herzegovina (e.g. the Ravenna Declaration – UniADRION, etc.).

How to become a member

The initiative to join a network may come from a representative of the network (the current chair), an existing member institution, or the institution itself expressing interest in joining. A proposal to join a specific network or association can be made by the management of the institution, while the final decision is made by the Senate (in the case of the University of Sarajevo). For most international networks and associations, membership requires an annual fee defined by the respective organization.

In addition to university-level memberships, many (sub)organizational units of the University of Sarajevo are also members of networks that are more specialized in their respective fields.
