The University of Sarajevo hosted 60 foreign students in the summer semester of the academic year 2025/2026
The International Cooperation Office of the University of Sarajevo, in cooperation with the vice-deans and coordinators for international cooperation from the member universities of the University, has opened a series of competitions for two-way mobility over the past period, which has ensured the admission of foreign students in the summer semester of the academic year 2025/2026.
In the summer semester, the University of Sarajevo will host 60 foreign students from 35 partner universities from 16 countries: Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Georgia, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom. The largest number of students come thanks to the Erasmus+ program, which continues to represent a key framework for international mobility and academic cooperation.
On this occasion, on 25 February, a Welcome Day for Foreign Students was held in the University of Sarajevo Rectorate. The program was moderated by the International Relations Office, and included a presentation about Sarajevo as a host city, student presentations, and an information session on studying and living during mobility. Students were provided with academic, administrative, and practical information about the University and their stay in Sarajevo. The socializing continued with a presentation of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), after which the event ended with informal socializing and networking.
Even before the students arrived, the University of Sarajevo organized their connection with local colleagues through the Buddy Program, with the aim of facilitating their integration and orientation in the new academic and social environment.
The second day of the program was dedicated to the practical aspects of their stay in Sarajevo. An interactive workshop was organized during which students received detailed instructions on regulating a residence permit, exercising the right to free public transportation, as well as other important information related to their stay. The program concluded with a q&a session, giving students the opportunity to clarify any doubts regarding studying and living in Sarajevo.
International students will stay at the University of Sarajevo until the end of July 2026, when they complete their teaching obligations. Although the final data on incoming mobility will only be known in the annual report for 2026, it is already evident that the University of Sarajevo continues to strengthen its international dimension and confirm its status as an attractive destination for students from all over the world.
