75 Aniversary of the Oriental Institute of the University of Sarajevo - II International Symposium on Evliya Çelebi

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Oriental Institute of the University of Sarajevo, in collaboration with Sultan Fatih Mehmed University in Istanbul and the Evliya Çelebi Center of that university, the II International Symposium on Evliya Çelebi was held on 13-14 November. The symposium was titled "Cultural-Historical Flows in Bosnia and Herzegovina from the 15th to the 19th Centuries." The program included 40 scholars from the region (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia), Turkey, and Italy.
During the ceremonial part of the program held in the Great Hall of the Gazi Husrev-beg Library, participants included Prof. Dr. Dušanka Bošković, Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Youth of Sarajevo Canton; Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović; General Director of IRCICE Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç; President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker; Rector of Sultan Fatih Mehmed University Prof. Dr. Nevzat Şimşek; and Director of the Evliya Çelebi Center Prof. Dr. Musa Duman.
The opening of the symposium and the working part of the program on the first day took place in the Great Hall of the Gazi Husrev-beg Library; the second day was held in the E-Net Hall of the Faculty of Economics, and the closing session took place in the Great Hall of the Oriental Institute. The introductory lecture titled "Historiographical Approaches to Ottoman Rule in the Balkans with a Special Focus on the Bosnian Context (15th-19th Centuries)" was delivered by Prof. Dr. Fikret Adanır.
