International Summer School "Women, Peace and Security 2025" Held: Young Leaders from 11 Countries Together for Inclusive Security

The International Summer School "Women, Peace and Security 2025" was held from 22 to 26 September 2025 at the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies. The Summer School brought together 48 participants from 11 countries, including students, young experts and professionals in the fields of security, international relations, law and gender studies. A total of 5003 applications received from all over the world, more than 130 countries, confirmed the importance and recognition of this initiative, and only the most outstanding candidates had the opportunity to be part of the program.

During five intensive days, participants went through five carefully designed modules that covered key topics covered by Resolution 1325, with a special emphasis on the role and contribution of women in peacebuilding and conflict prevention processes. Through lectures, panel discussions, practical workshops and field visits, participants had the opportunity to gain new knowledge, exchange experiences and develop skills important for their further academic and professional activities. The Summer School Women, Peace and Security has been recognized as a unique international program that not only strengthens academic dialogue, but also encourages networking of young leaders, researchers and practitioners from different countries.

The Summer School is organized in partnership with the United Nations, through the initiatives of the UN Secretary-General's Peacebuilding Fund (PBF): Women Lead the Way Towards Peace and Security in Bosnia and Herzegovina (implemented by UN Women, IOM and UNFPA in partnership with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH), and the regional program Youth 4 Inclusion, Equality & Trust (implemented by four UN agencies led by UNDP in Serbia, in cooperation with UN Women Albania).
