University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Political Science continues to be part of a successful PoSIG consortium
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj confirmed, on 10 July 2023, the Accession to the University of Salzburg, which brings together the leading political footpoints in the region in the regulation and execution of the Joint Master of Political Sciences entitled: Integration and Management (POSIG).
The study program and accompanying measures were previously developed as part of the Erasmus + Ka2 Capacity Building project from the 2015-2017. years. The signing of the new contract on the expanded consortium and an innovated study program enables the consortium to apply for the new cycle of international accreditation. Previous master's program that has been jointly performed in the period 2016-2023. He was accredited in Austria. Since 2014, a project at the University of Sarajevo - the Faculty of Political Science develops and the study master's program leads prof. Dr. Nedžma Džananović Miraščija (FPN / UNSA).
The signing of the contract was attended by the Director of the Consortium of the Joint Master of PoSIG Prof. Sr. Franz Kok, Vice-Rectors University of Sarajevo: Prof. Dr. Mirza Dautbašić, and Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović; Professors of the Faculty of Political Science UNSA: POSIG Coordinator Prof. Dr. Nežma Džananović Miraščija, PoSIG quality studies Prof. Dr. Sarina Bakić and Vice Dean for Scientific Research Work and Member of the PoSIG team Prof. Dr. Mirza Emirhafizović; UNSA Rector's cabinet head, M. Sc. Miroslav Živanovic Dr. Lejla Dizdarević, senior expert associate in the UNSA Research Centre and Development.
PoSIG Master's program enabled the students of the Faculty of Political Science, University of Sarajevo, as well as other universities of consortia members, the experience of studying at a minimum of two, or three different universities during a two-year-old master or multiple degree. Students of the Faculty of Political Science, University of Sarajevo, decided in recent years for this study, achieved above average results, and the Faculty of Political Science UNSA was a popular destination for students from other countries. Successful cooperation will continue in the forthcoming period, and the revised program, with renewed accreditation, will be offered in the following academic year (2024/25).
The consortium has 10 universities from 7 countries: University of Salzburg (Austria); University of Trieste (Italy); Cyrill and Methodius University, Skopje (North Macedonia); European University of Tirana (Albania); University of Tirana (Albania); University of Business and Technology, Prishtina (Kosovo), University of Prishtina (Kosovo); University of Montenegro (Montenegro).
From Bosnia and Herzegovina, the members of the consortium are the Faculty of Political Science, University of Sarajevo and Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST).
All institutions participating have accredited programs in the field of political sciences on all three levels of study.
The program of the Joint Master Study in the field of political sciences: integration and management (POSIG) is based on high international standards and measures to teach political sciences in accordance with the seventh level of the European Qualification Framework and the second QF-EHEA qualification cycle. Consortium members, i.e. Partnership universities have contributed and will contribute to the study with their specific academic profiles in the following areas: comparative policy; European integration; International relations; Public administration and policies; Political theory and methodology.
PoSIG is oriented to the needs of students, with a special focus on learning outcomes. Students are expected high motivation and the adoption of independent decisions on the academic profile that want to develop within the curriculum. Students will continue to be able to opt for two areas of specialization within the area and disciplines offered by consortia members, during two years of study (120 ECTS). For teachers, the consortium is a significant platform for discussion on the further development of the standards of teaching and research in the field of political sciences in Europe.
For the Faculty of Political Science, the University of Sarajevo, participation in the development and implementation of the POSIG program is not only a successful way of internationalizing political science, but is one of the most recent processes. The nine-year experience of intensive cooperation has positively affected both internal and external aspects of the Institution, to teachers, students and the institution as a whole. Program concept of multiple diplomas and international (Austrian) accreditation in the period 2017-2023. The year remain recorded as the pioneering success of the faculty. The whole process has issued a number of other benefits for teachers, students and the institution as a whole, especially in the context of quality management.
The items submitted within the POSIG program introduced a completely new concept focused on the promotion of students in the research. Also, teachers and students open
is the opportunity to use the latest literature, and extensive use of modern technology in teaching and before pandemic technological steps. The study of political science on the FPN / UNSA in the early stage of implementation introduced the use of software against plagiarisms for Master Papers, which is now a regular part of the defence procedure for master's theses. Existing programs in the field of political sciences, the management of the state, and international relations and diplomacy have been audited with the aim of achieving a greater degree of complementarity with a POSIG concept.
The Faculty's Student Service has developed additional capacities for working with exchange students, which has attracted the Faculty of the Record Number of Students in Exchange Programs.
The activities on the Faculty itself coincided at the University of Sarajevo, which helped the success of the Program itself, but also, in a broader context, the creation of a more favourable environmentalization and establishment of joint project management procedures financed by relevant international funds.
