First Festival of Sport at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education University of Sarajevo
MATCH – Social Inclusion Opportunities
Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Sarajevo announces the First Festival of Sport, which is to be organised on the 25th October 2018 within the implementation of the Erasmus + Sport MATCH – Social Inclusion Opportunities project.
As the final activity of the project MATCH, the Festival of Sport aims towards establishing, strengthening and promoting sport as a powerful education tool, which promotes different values, such as tolerance, solidarity, cooperation and intercultural vision of the society. Furthermore, it enables everyone coming from different layers of society to overcome the speech of hatred so that they could fight against all forms of prejudice, racism, and xenophobia. For this reason, it is important to include young people coming from different social groups in order to be open towards intercultural ideas, with an aim to become ambassadors of tolerance.
All the activities of the MATCH project, such as training and Job-shadowing activities (Mediterraneo Antirazzista festival) held in Palermo, which the four students at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education University of Sarajevo attended, have led to acquiring the knowledge and practical experiences in the organisation of similar events. As a result, the students of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education University of Sarajevo have become trainers who have transferred their acquired knowledge and skills to volunteers/students of the Faculty (their peers), and as such will contribute immensely to the organisation of the First Festival of Sport.
In a nutshell all these activities represent the aim of the project MATCH “social inclusion”, which is a two-year project co-financed by the Erasmus + programme, with an intent to improve the aspect of social inclusion and to offer equal opportunities to young people, who belong to endangered groups, by motivating and increasing their participation in sport activities.
