A workshop on the application of low-energy accelerators, held on 22 and 23 September 2026 at the University of Sarajevo, gathered distinguished lecturers from the IAEA, CERN, the CNAO Institute, the Jožef Stefan Institute, the Demokritos Center, and universities in Ljubljana, Thessaloniki, Sarajevo, British Columbia, and other renowned institutions. Lectures were presented on current topics across various scientific fields—from cultural heritage preservation and radiopharmaceutical production to hadron therapy—all united by the common theme of accelerator physics. The workshop was organized with the support of the EU Horizon IFIGENEIA project.

One of the workshop's objectives was to acquaint colleagues from BiH institutions and the private sector with the ideas and goals of the IFIGENEIA project, as well as with the progress in establishing the Sarajevo Ion Accelerator (SARAI) laboratory.

Simultaneously, within the framework of the "CBI – Challenge Based Innovation" student challenge, 24 students from European universities—including four from the University of Sarajevo—followed lectures by the same experts in a different format. The students worked on developing smaller-scale projects, which they were scheduled to present to a commission at the UNSA Rector's Office on 1 October. The prize for the team with the best proposal is a trip to CERN.
