Welcome Day for 57 International Students at the University of Sarajevo
During the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, the International Relations Office of the University of Sarajevo, in cooperation with vice deans and international relations coordinators from the University’s member institutions, opened a series of calls for incoming and outgoing mobility and coordinated the admission of international students for the winter semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
To mark the occasion, a Welcome Day for international students was held on Friday, 2 October 2026. In the winter semester, 57 students from 21 higher education institutions in 14 European countries will study at the University of Sarajevo: Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, and Türkiye.
Representatives of the International Relations Office welcomed the students, presented the University of Sarajevo and the city of Sarajevo, and provided academic, administrative, and practical information important for their stay and for adjusting more easily to their new environment.
In cooperation with the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) student association, international students were given the opportunity to connect with local students through the Buddy Program, with the aim of providing support during their stay, helping them get to know the city, and encouraging their involvement in student life.
The program also featured CATCHaCORN, a sports, recreational, and educational competition in the speed and skill of harvesting agricultural crops, organized by the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences of the University of Sarajevo in cooperation with the Student Association.
The international students will remain at the University of Sarajevo until the end of February 2027, when their teaching obligations for the winter semester conclude. Representatives of the International Relations Office wished them a successful academic stay, new friendships, and wonderful memories from Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
