Visit of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Sarajevo management to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ljubljana

According to the strategic orientation of strengthening the links between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Sarajevo and the veterinary faculties of the countries in the region, a visit to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Ljubljana was organized in the period 28-30 June 2021. The delegation of the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Sarajevo was led by Prof. Dr. Muhamed Smajlović, Dean, accompanied by the Vice Dean for International Cooperation, Scientific Research and Quality Assurance. The delegation was hosted by Prof. Dr. Andrej Kirbiš, Dean and vice-deans and heads of clinics at the Faculty of Ljubljana.

During the visit, steps towards the continuation of previously established activities postponed or slowed down due to COVID 19 pandemic were concretized, and new forms of cooperation were agreed with the implementation in the near future. The experiences of working in pandemic conditions have been changed, both in relation to teaching and for other activities performed by both Faculties.

The experience of the recent accreditation the EAEVE expert team’s visit to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ljubljana, as well as the successes and challenges of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Sarajevo as an actor in the official response to COVID 19, were especially useful. The election of a new Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ljubljana Dean, Prof. Dr. Breda Jakovac Strajn, as well as the newly elected rector of the University of Ljubljana prof. dr. Gregor Majdič with taking office in October 2021, former Vice-Deans in the administration of Dean Kirbiš.
