University of Sarajevo Hosts WE-MIND Trainer Training for Student Mental Health Support

The University of Sarajevo hosted the two-day WE-MIND Training of Trainers (ToT), held on 1 and 2 October 2026 at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo. The education was implemented within the Erasmus+ project WE-MIND – Advancing Mental Health and Innovation in Western Balkans Higher Education Through Digital Transformation.
The workshop was led by experts from IRIS-CC/UVic-UCC. Participants included representatives from the University of Sarajevo, Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST), IBCM, and RIT Kosovo. Over the two days, participants had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills related to student mental health, early identification of difficulties, appropriate provision of support and referral to professional services, as well as the development of an inclusive and supportive university environment.
The project team of the University of Sarajevo, consisting of Prof. Dr. Sibela Zvizdić, Prof. Dr. Minka Džanko, and Emina Sinanović, played a significant role in organizing the event and implementing the activities, with the support of volunteer students Nađa Sarajlić and Nina Trbić. Following the completion of the education, Prof. Dr. Sabina Alispahić and Dr. Tatjana Žarković were certified as trainers within the WE-MIND project. They will conduct education sessions for the teaching staff of the University of Sarajevo in the upcoming period.
The upcoming trainings represent an important step in strengthening the capacity of the University of Sarajevo to provide support to students and improve the mental health literacy of the academic community. A call for staff applications will be published soon via the website and social media channels of the University of Sarajevo and the WE-MIND project.
Through the WE-MIND project, the University of Sarajevo continues to develop an academic environment that is inclusive, supportive, and student-oriented, in accordance with European values of dignity, equality, and social inclusion.
