Univerzitet u Sarajevu ugostio doktoranda Aykuta Demiryüreka u okviru EUPeace programa doktorske mobilnosti

Within the framework of the EUPeace Doctoral Mobility programme, the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Political Sciences is hosting doctoral researcher Aykut Demiryürek, who is carrying out a research mobility at the Institute for Social Science Research from 15 June to 30 July 2026. The mobility is hosted by Assoc. Prof. Dr Sarina Bakić, member of the EUPeace Research Hub Security and Conflict Transformation.

As part of the EUPeace Doctoral Mobility programme, on 23 July 2026, the Rector of the University of Sarajevo welcomed doctoral researcher Aykut Demiryürek, who is currently undertaking his research mobility at the University of Sarajevo. During the meeting, they discussed the importance of international cooperation within the EUPeace Alliance, the role of doctoral mobility in strengthening universities' research capacities, and opportunities for expanding collaboration through joint research projects and academic initiatives.

During the mobility, the doctoral researcher is conducting a comparative study on peace education and peacebuilding in language teaching and language teacher education, examining the experiences of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a post-conflict society and Türkiye as a country shaped by significant migration dynamics.

The research focuses on analysing how themes such as peacebuilding, intercultural dialogue, social justice, inclusion, democratic participation, and conflict resolution are reflected in language-teaching curricula and teacher-education programmes. Through document analysis, curriculum review, and collaboration with researchers at the University of Sarajevo, the project seeks to identify best practices, context-specific approaches, and opportunities to advance peace-oriented education.

The research findings will be integrated into innovative teaching activities and educational materials for language teacher education, with a particular emphasis on intercultural dialogue, inclusive teaching practices, and social responsibility.

The EUPeace Doctoral Mobility programme provides doctoral researchers with valuable opportunities for international research exchange, knowledge sharing, and collaborative research, thereby contributing to the internationalisation of the University of Sarajevo and the development of the European Research Area.
