Library Network Support Services (LNSS): Modernising libraries in Western Balkan countries through staff development and reforming library services
A regular Online Module Working Group two day meeting Erasmus Capacity Building In Higher Education (CBHE) Library Network Support Services (LNSS): Modernizing Libraries in Western Balkan Countries through Staff Development and Reforming Library Services was held in Technology Institute in Limerick, Ireland on 23 and 24 January 2018. The meeting was organized by the Technology Institute in Limerick (Ireland) - Project Coordinator, and attended by two representatives from universities in the European Union and partner universities of the Western Balkans countries: Transylvanian University in Brašov (Romania), Crete (Greece), The Pyramid Group (Germany), University of Sarajevo (Bosnia), Bihać Cantonal and University Library (Bosnia), University of Tirana (Albania), University of Pristina, University of Pristina - Kosovska Mitrovica, University of Mostar ( Bosnia) and the University of Montenegro (Montenegro). The meeting was also attended by Mr. Franco Burgio, the EACEA agency manager program.
The meeting presented activities and progress in the implementation of the LNSS project in the Western Balkan countries in the period following the first OMWG meeting held at the University in Sarajevo in October 2016. Special attention was devoted to the activities organized by the National Day of Knowledge on Libraries held on 8 September 2017 at BH partner institutions. The National Library Awareness Day has been arranged for 2018, as well as in the period after the project is completed in all partner universities in the Western Balkans. Also, activities were organized around the LNSS pilot training organization.
Particular attention is paid to the documents created by the partners: the Development Policy, the Library's Strategic Development Plan and the Digital Library Development Strategy.
It was agreed that partners will acquire and use a three-year LibGuide platform that has been selected as the most affordable support option for online modules and other relevant materials. It is a suitable electronic tool that will help in the creation and maintenance of modules and other materials that will meet the needs of the partner in the Project. LibGuide is an easy-to-use system where librarians can improve their knowledge, share information, and collaborate with other librarians.
