Prof. Dejan Slavuljica Recipient of the Tuzla Ribbon for Contribution to the Development of the Cultural and Artistic Scene in Tuzla and Bosnia and Herzegovina

Academy of Fine Arts, University of Sarajevo: Our colleague Dejan Slavuljica is the recipient of the Tuzla Ribbon for his contribution to the development of the cultural and artistic scene in Tuzla and Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Tuzla solemnly marked 2 October – Liberation Day and the 83rd anniversary of the first liberation of the city during World War II. The commemoration of one of the most significant dates in Tuzla's history was dedicated to nurturing the culture of remembrance and the values of freedom, anti-fascism, unity, solidarity, and mutual respect.

The commemoration of the 83rd anniversary of the liberation of Tuzla was attended by representatives of state, federal, cantonal, and local authorities, international organizations, the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, veteran and anti-fascist associations, public, social, cultural, and religious life, as well as delegations from sister and friendly cities. The ceremony was honored by the presence of Nermin Nikšić, Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Flowers were laid at the Slana Banja complex, paying tribute to all those who gave their lives for the freedom of Tuzla and Bosnia and Herzegovina. By jointly laying flowers, lasting gratitude was expressed to the participants of the National Liberation War 1941–1945 and the Defense and Liberation War 1992–1995, as well as to civilian victims of war.

A special part of the ceremonial session was dedicated to awarding public recognitions of the City of Tuzla to individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to Tuzla and Bosnia and Herzegovina through their work and activities.

Speaking on behalf of the award recipients, Fra Petar Matanović thanked them for the honor bestowed and emphasized the importance of preserving unity, nurturing what connects us, and contributing to the common good.

"We need to preserve and nurture what we are, together with other peoples and neighbors, and build deeper and stronger ties. Each of us can contribute to this idea and the beauty of communal life," stated Fra Petar Matanović.
