Online Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students in BiH
On 28 June, 2020, the Confucius Institute at University of Sarajevo held the 13th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students. The competition successfully held online.
6 competitors from two institutes of the University of Sarajevo and University of Banja Luka, Chinese Classes of Mostar and Foča, attended the final competition after the preliminary and second round. All the competitors showed their talents in Chinese Speaking, Chinese cultures, foods, music instruments, and songs.
After more than two hours of intense competition, Kevser Bukvić from the First Bosniak High School, who is studying Chinese at Confucius Institute at Sarajevo University, won the first prize.
When she was interviewed after she got the first place, Kevser Bukvić said ”I am very excited that CI UNSA offered me a platform for studying Chinese which opened new horizons for me, and Chinese Bridge helped me learn more about Chinese history and cultures. I try to feel and find out the difference between BiH and China.”
Džana Čišić, the youngest competitor from Mostar said ”I am very lucky to be one of participants. I will do my best to study Chinese in the future.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Competition was held online. Many local Chinese learners are very active in Chinese study by the Cloud Platform, and try to realize their own dreams.
Up to now, Chinese language has been integrated into university curriculum system as elective course at the University of Sarajevo and University of Banja Luka. Confucius Institute at University of Sarajevo has co-organized Chinese teaching and talents classes with some schools and local communities in Sarajevo.
