Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton visited the Faculty of Islamic Sciences of the University of Sarajevo

Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the canton of Sarajevo Prof. Dr. Adna Mesihović visited the Faculty of Islamic Sciences of the University of Sarajevo with associates.

The meeting with the minister was attended by Dean Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hasani, Vice Dean for Teaching Prof. Dr. Ahmet Alibašić, Vice Dean for Quality of Prof. Dr. Nedim Begović, Vice Dean for the Research, Prof. Dr. Zehra Alispahić and Vice Dean For International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Aid Smajić.

Guests are briefed on the history of FIN, which is one of the oldest Islamic educational institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, since the Ottoman rule. Today, it can be proudly said that the Faculty of Islamic Sciences represents the most prestigious institution of higher education in Europe.

According to the dean and associate, the Faculty offers study programs, which involve humanistic and social education, which is in the function of the humanism mission, a better understanding among the peoples, religions and cultures but also testify to harmony between traditional and contemporary Islamic sciences, but also of Eastern and Western cultural values.

Minister Mesihović expressed satisfaction with the visit with gratitude to the representatives of the Faculty for his heartfelt welcome. She highlighted the importance of the study programs this faculty offers to all students.

“The Faculty plays a key role in training academic cadres that will address various aspects of Islamic science and culture, as well as in promoting intercultural dialogue and understanding among different communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, this faculty contributes to the preservation and promotion of Islamic tradition and value in the modern context of“, said Minister Mesihović.

Among other things, the projects currently being implemented on the FIN, as well as international cooperation, were discussed with popular reference to the Resilience project (Religious Studies Infrastructure: tooLs, Expert, conNections and Ceenters). This project is implemented, among others, in cooperation with 12 academic institutions from 10 countries that have joined forces to start this project, with the ultimate goal of building a European response to the challenges of religious diversity. It is funded under the EU Horizon 2020 program, which aims to establish European research infrastructure in the field of religious studies.
