Students enrolled in the first studies cycle at the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Political Sciences, within the subject Sociology of Organization, visited the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with the subject professor Sarina Bakić.
Sarač Aida, museum pedagogue and art historian, hosted our students at the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina, founded in 1946, which has a collection of more than 6,000 inventory items, and presented the exhibition “ARTsee: Ferdinand Hodler”; “Enthusiasm Gallery” and “Icon Collection”. Together with the students, they exchanged views on the importance of culture and art in society, but also on the structure of this institution and the way it works. Museum pedagogue and art historian Aida, revealed to us many of the difficulties faced by this 15-member cultural institution headed by a director, curators, museum pedagogue, museum technician, restorer, museum documentary filmmaker and staff in charge of maintaining the collection itself. galleries. On the ground floor of the gallery there is a new exhibition “Artsee: Ferdinand Hodler” which has special content for children and youth with developmental disabilities. On the top floor of the gallery there are exhibitions of the collectors' units “Gallery of Enthusiasm” and “Collection of Icons”. A major problem of the Art Gallery of BiH is insufficient economic income that prevents adequate storage and maintenance of collections, payment of staff and the realization of new ideas and exhibitions. The students agreed on the importance of culture and art as the foundations of every country, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, and came to the conclusion that young people can help by visiting these institutions and other cultural institutions and actively participate in culture and help it. visibility and significance for our entire society.
