Faculty of Health Studies UNSA and the Association of Students of the Faculty of Health Studies organized marking the - World Diabetes Day 14 November
On 14 November 2021, in the premises of Hub Homework, organized by the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Sarajevo and the Association of Students of the Faculty of Health Studies, 14 November - World Diabetes Day was marked under the slogans “Promote health, prevent diabetes” and “Measure blood sugar, take care of your health.” HUB members, students and citizens had the opportunity to get acquainted in detail with diabetes as one of the leading public health problems, the problems of the origin and treatment of diabetes as well as the prevention of the disease.
Prior to laboratory and anthropometric measurements, an educational lecture on “Diabetes mellitus-pathophysiology, risk factors, prevention, laboratory diagnosis and cardiovascular complications” was given by Ass. Almedina Hajrović. During the lecture, special importance was given to risk factors and promotional and preventive programs in the fight against diabetes in adolescents and young people, as well as the elderly. After the lecture, the students of the Faculty together with Ass. Hajrović held an interactive workshop on risk assessment for cardiovascular diseases as a complication of diabetes.
Students performed anthropometric measurements, determined the level of glucose in the capillary blood, measured blood pressure and determined blood groups.
