Discussions on the possibilities of connecting the “Urban Transformation of Sarajevo” Project and the UNSA Campus Master Plan Development Project

The implementation of the project “Urban transformation of Sarajevo” project is the reason for today's meeting attended by Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, UNSA Vice-Chancellor for Finance, Mrs. Lejla Hajro, UNSA Campus Construction and Maintenance Directorate director, Prof. Hubert Klumpner, project manager at ETH Zurich, Dr. Michael Walczak, deputy project leader, Prof. Klumpner, and Prof. Dr. Adnan Pašić, project leader in front of UNSA and professor at the UNSA Faculty of Architecture, with collaborators from the UNSA Faculty of Architecture Melika Konjičanin and Dženisa Avdić.

During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of connecting the “Urban Transformation of Sarajevo” project and the Master Plan development project of the University of Sarajevo Campus. Considering that the preparation of the Master Plan is in the final phase, and that the preparation and adoption of the Regulatory Plan for the subject coverage is to come, a unique opportunity was recognized for testing knowledge and software at the mentioned location within the framework of urban transformations.

The project “Urban transformation of Sarajevo” aims to modernize the system of integral urban planning in Sarajevo Canton, through a work program and an approach to urban planning based on climate resistance, transparency, inclusiveness and real data, in a way that contributes to economic development and increasing the quality of life. The agreement on the implementation of the “Urban Transformation Project of Sarajevo” between ETH Zurich, the University of Sarajevo and the Development Planning Institute of the Canton of Sarajevo was signed on 12 April 2022 at the University of Sarajevo Rectorate.
