Delegation from the Bosnia and Herzegovina–Malaysia Business Council visited the University of Sarajevo
The University of Sarajevo today hosted a delegation from the Bosnia and Herzegovina–Malaysia Business Council (Malaysia–Bosnia & Herzegovina Business Council – MBBC), led by Council President Tan Sri Mohamed Al Amin.
The delegation was received at the University of Sarajevo Rectorate by Rector Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović and the vice-rectors: Prof. Dr. Kemal Durić, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation; Prof. Dr. Benina Veledar, Vice-Rector for Finance; Prof. Dr. Naris Pojskić, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research; Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs; and Prof. Arma Tanović Branković, Vice-Rector for Arts, Artistic Research, Culture, and Sport.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Malaysia, with a particular focus on higher education, academic exchange, institutional networking, and the development of long-term partnerships.
A particularly important academic aspect of the meeting at the University of Sarajevo was the participation of representatives of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), as the delegation’s academic partner. Their presence opened space for discussion on opportunities for cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and IIUM, including academic exchange, the exchange of knowledge and experience, institutional networking, and joint action in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the participants also discussed the role of universities in connecting people and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Malaysia, as well as opportunities to intensify cooperation that goes beyond strictly business and trade relations. Particular emphasis was placed on education, intellectual exchange, institutional cooperation, and connecting academic communities.
The delegation had the opportunity to learn about the history of the University of Sarajevo, its academic environment, institutional development, and the role the University plays in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s social and development context. Current regional and global issues of mutual interest were also discussed, along with an exchange of perspectives.
MBBC President Tan Sri Mohamed Al Amin highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries, while Rector Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović emphasized the University of Sarajevo’s openness to developing new forms of international cooperation and partnerships with Malaysian universities and institutions.
The MBBC delegation’s visit to the University of Sarajevo was part of the Bosnia and Herzegovina–Malaysia Business Council’s program during the Sarajevo Business Dialogue 2.0 conference, which aims to further strengthen bilateral relations and create new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. Today’s meeting represents an important step toward opening space for future joint activities between the University of Sarajevo and partners from Malaysia, particularly in the areas of higher education, academic mobility, and the exchange of knowledge and experience.
