The 71st Anniversary of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo
Dear colleagues, students and all you friends of the Faculty of Philosophy from Bosnia and Herzegovina and many countries around the world.
I have the honor to address you all on the occasion of the seventy-first anniversary of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo. Unfortunately, we are celebrating this anniversary in a difficult period amidst the pandemic, in circumstances that due to epidemiological measures do not allow us the usual ceremonial session of the Teaching Council and friendly collegial gatherings with a modest cocktail, as we have done for decades. I sincerely hope that we will welcome the next anniversary in just such a way, that we will successfully complete all the work that lies ahead of us until then, and that we will, led by the new leadership, make new development steps.
The development of humanities, social and artistic disciplines that are studied at our faculty always contributes to the overall cultural development. And that to a culture understood as nurturing a kind of oasis of encounter, understanding, rational “tuning” and agreement in all fields. These oases have always re-examined the paths that our society and the world as a whole are taking and warned of the possible pitfalls that await us on them. Precisely for this reason, the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Philosophy must remain an oasis of this type, otherwise it will lose its fundamental meaning. We wanted to show only a part of our scientific research and professional results with the activities we realize during the Week of the Faculty of Philosophy, hoping that such contents will become a part of our academic everyday life in the coming period.
Convinced that this will be the case in the coming years, that we will continue to be the leading educational academic institution in the country, as well as an important scientific and professional center not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina but also in Europe, I congratulate students, employees and our dear retirees the 71st Anniversary of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo.
