The 6th Congress of Geographers of Bosnia and Herzegovina was successfully held at the University of Sarajevo

The Sixth Congress of Geographers of Bosnia and Herzegovina was successfully held from 19 to 21 September 2024 at the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The Congress was organized in cooperation with the Department of Geography, the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Science and the Geographical Society in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton. More than 170 geographers, scientists and experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia participated in the Congress. More than 60 scientific papers presented through seven scientific sessions, covering a wide range of topics such as environmental protection, tourism, regional and spatial planning, geoinformation technologies and GIS, and geography in education. During the three days of the Congress, two panel discussions were held: "Tourism as a factor of regional and global integration" and "Contemporary challenges of geographical education in the processes of globalization of knowledge". On the final day of the Congress, September 21, a field excursion was organized on the route Sarajevo - Jablanica - Šćit - Kupres - Šipovo - Jajce - Travnik - Sarajevo, which gave the participants the opportunity to get acquainted with important geographical and cultural localities. The goal of the Congress was to gather eminent scientists and researchers to exchange ideas and results of scientific research from various disciplines of geographical science. The presented papers will be considered for publication in internationally peer-reviewed publications, including Proceedings of the 6th Congress of Geographers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Geographical Review and Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
