3rd Student Congress on Environmental Health with International Participation
On the occasion of the celebrating of the World Environmental Health Day 2019, the 3rd Student Congress on Environmental Health with international participation was held in Rijeka from 26 to 27 September 2019. The Congress was held within the project “Public Health Aspects of Waste Management - Protect Health and the Environment” and organized by the Environmental and Public Health Association.
UNSA Faculty of Health Studies representatives, Senior Ass. Eldina Smječanin and Ass. Minela Velagić took an active part and also contributed to the Congress as organizing committee members. They won the first place for the best oral presentation upon presenting a paper “Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of Citizens on the Use and Conservation of Natural Drinking Water Resources.”
On the Congress’ second day, visits to the city of Krk were organized to visit the main island reservoir - Ponikva, the raw water treatment system, as well as the wastewater treatment plant. After the field visit, representatives of Ponikve eco island Krk LTD Company held a presentation in the Krk City Hall on the challenges and opportunities in waste management.
