A Book by Faculty of Civil Engineering Professors “Nonlinear Dynamics of Structures Under Extreme Transient Loads” Published by CRC Press Taylor & Francis Group
At the Eccomas MSF 2019 (4th International Conference on Multi-Scale Computational Methods for Solid and Fluids) held in Sarajevo from 18 to 20 September 2019, organized by the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC, France), Association Sorbonne Université, in cooperation with the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Sarajevo, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Sarajevo and the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prof. Dr. Adnan Ibrahimbegović, in his plenary lecture “Resilience of Structures and Infrastructure Under Extreme Transient Loads” presented the book “Nonlinear Dynamics of Structures Under Extreme Transient Loads” which he published with associate professor, Prof. Dr. Naida Ademović, Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Sarajevo. The book was published on 30 May 2019 by the eminent CRC Press publisher Taylor & Francis Group. This represents another major success for the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Sarajevo.
Nonlinear dynamics of structures under extreme temporary loads covers the construction of models for various engineering structures and provides detailed cases of extreme load conditions. Numerous illustrations are given, such as the crash of an airplane, the loads caused by an explosion, the effects of strong earthquakes, the effects and long-lasting effects of strong storm winds, along with the relevant framework for using modern computational tools. Inside the book, models for various materials from which structures can be constructed are addressed. In this way, steel, reinforced concrete and masonry structures were treated. Also, the level of load-bearing capacity of existing structures was considered, as well as ways of reducing the negative impact of high-risk situations using more applicable modeling procedures.
Prof. Dr. Adnan Ibrahimbegović was elected at the Electoral Assembly of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ANUBiH) on 21/08/2018 by public vote as a domestic member of the Academy (BiH citizens permanently residing abroad) in the field of Technical Sciences - Civil Engineering. Prof. Dr. Naida Ademović works as an associate professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Sarajevo.
