The 18th ERMA Program Masters Generation Promoted

Today, 28 masters from the European Regional Master's Program in Democracy and Human Rights in Southeast Europe (ERMA) 18th generation have been promoted in Sarajevo. A new generation of students from this highly regarded international master's program has also been inaugurated on this occasion.

The event taking place in the University of Sarajevo Ceremonial Hall was attended by a large number of local and foreign diplomats, university professors, ERMA program former and future students, as well as their friends, family members and others.

To date, more than 500 students have completed the ERMA study, mostly from the Southeast Europe, European Union and beyond. Students will receive a dual diploma from the University of Sarajevo and the University of Bologna.

The ceremony was opened by a welcome address delivered by University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Bologna Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Enrico Sangiorgi, Italian Ambassador to BiH, H. E. Nicola Minasi and Mr. Krassimir Nikolov, Head of Section for European Integration, Political Affairs, Public Relations and Information of the EU Delegation to BiH. The keynote address was delivered by Zdzisław Kędzia, Global Campus of Human Rights President. On behalf of the ERMA program partner universities, Prof. Wolfgang Benedek, Karl Franzens University of Graz addressed the attendees. Representatives of the 2018/2019 generation, Edo Kanlić and Stela Ćelosmanović also shared their experience. Marjan Icoski addressed the audience as an Alumni Network of ERMA Studies (EAN) representative, whereas Study Co-Directors, Prof. Dr. Marco Borraccetti and Prof. Dr. Asim Mujkić presented the report for 2018/2019 and announced students whose theses were selected as the best for this academic year. Jasenka Ferizović was the best student in 2018/2019 with the best thesis and an average grade of 10. In addition to the ERMA Award, she was also awarded the “Professor Zdravko Grebo” honorary award. Justas Korsakovas, Marc Montany Daufi, Milica Stajić and Goran Stanić also received ERMA awards for the best theses, while Edo Kanlić received the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award.
The ERMA program is a joint effort of several universities in Southeast Europe and the European Union. Since 2000, the ERMA program has been funded by the European Union and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the AICS Agency. For six years, EU funding has been provided through the Global Campus Network administered by the European Interuniversity Center for Human Rights and Democratization in Venice (EIUC). The total funding allocated to this program so far is over 9 million Euros.
