11th AILA-Europe JRM Conference Held
Organized by the UNSA Faculty of Philosophy and sponsored by AILA-Europe, the 11th AILA-Europe Junior Researcher Meeting in Applied Linguistics - Multipersepctivity in Applied Linguistics was held at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo from 26 to 28 September 2019.
The conference was organized by the recently established Society for the Advancement of Applied Linguistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina (SAALinBiH). The Conference Organizing Committee was composed of the staff of the Department of English and the Department of Oriental Philology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, led by Prof. Dr. Merima Osmankadić, Department of English Associate Professor and President of the Society. Volunteers - third year students of the first cycle and students of the second cycle of studies of the Department of English Studies and the Department of Oriental Philology also assisted in the organization.
A number of young linguists from around the world participated (Finland, United Kingdom, Ireland, Oman, Burma, Japan, Austria, China, Hungary, Croatia, Indonesia, Montenegro, Turkey), as well as several universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bihać, Tuzla, Sarajevo). Lectures were delivered by eminent professors in the field of applied linguistics, through a range of topics from the methodology of teaching and learning foreign languages, through the acquisition of native and foreign languages, motivation in language learning, early foreign language learning, to sociolinguistics, pragmatics, critical discourse analysis, discourse analysis, cognitive linguistics, neurolinguistics as well as the use of social networks and platforms to promote one's own research in linguistics.
