UNSA CIS Presented Six Interdisciplinary Master studies for 2018/2019
Contemporary interdisciplinary studies for the development of society
“We are proud of the fact that at University of Sarajevo we have 6 new study programs that greatly impact our society” said University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj at the University of Sarajevo Open Center for Interdisciplinary Studies Doors Event, when six new interdisciplinary master studies for 2018/2019 were presented. The competition call for study programs Democracy and Human Rights in South East Europe (ERMA), European Studies, Nutrition, Unique Health, and for the first time the Programs for Protection against Natural Disasters and International and Regional Security is open until mid-September this year. “In the time in which we live, it is almost impossible to educate ourselves in just one area. It is necessary to combine disciplines and, therefore, we are fostering interdisciplinarity that today is not a trend in the world than a need” said Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, Prof. Dr. Melika Husić-Mehmedović.
Head of a new program “International and Regional Security”, Dr. Sc. Selmo Cikotić said that the study would be conducted by lecturers and experts from around the world with the most reliable theoretical and practical knowledge. “We opted for this study out of fact that security has become important for practically all human activities. Whether you are dealing with politics, business, sports, culture or human rights, security is the basis for any work” said Cikotić adding that the lessons will be in English.
Head of the European Studies program, Prof. Dr. Azra Hadžiahmetović emphasized that this program has so far produced many successful people who work and in the most important state and international institutions, while the leader of the program “one Health”, Prof. Dr. Nihad Fejzić said that this program would make a strong internationalization of the University of Sarajevo and that the same programs existed in several US and European universities.
Prof. Dr. Asim Mujkić said that the ERMA program which had been conducted for 17 years, had never fallen into a precipice at some point and that it had maintained its dynamism, while Prof. Dr. Hata Milišić announced the new and free program “Protection against natural disasters” as a theoretical and practical study that besides professors will be conducted by experts from the field. Doz. Dr. Irzada Taljić announced the study program “Nutrition” as a quality two-year study which will be attended by doctors, biochemists, technologists, sports professors and others this year.
So far, from CIS master studies more than 800 students have graduated who have found their jobs in various sectors where they contribute to the progress of the entire BH society in their daily work. The Center is focused on the interdisciplinary education of a new generation of experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as from the countries of the region of Southeast Europe. As such, CIS gathers more than a hundred respected domestic and foreign experts from different scientific fields who work together on development projects from all scientific fields.
