UNSA and Save the Children: Cooperation on the General Education Project (TABLA)
Presentation of the results of the General Education Project (TABLA), and the establishment of cooperation and further coordination of project activities were the reason for today's meeting attended by representatives of Save the Children: Andrea Žeravčić, director, Nihad Sladić, senior technical specialist TABLA project and Samir Arnautović, TABLA specialist project for Project Unit 1, and representatives of the University of Sarajevo: Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović and Doz. Dr. Ines Nuić from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Save the Children Director, Andrea Žeravčić commented on the connection of this international organization with the University of Sarajevo, recalling the successful cooperation with the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies UNSA through research within the project "Children in Migration" and cooperation with the Faculty of Science within the ENABLE project. She also pointed out that the cooperation with the University of Sarajevo on the TABLA project is very important for the organization Save the Children.
TABLA project specialist Samir Arnautović stated that within the Project Unit 1 Initial Education / Pre-Service harmonization of the curriculum of study programs in the field of teaching with STEAM, 4k, and the learning outcomes of teaching competencies; significant results have been achieved in the past two years, where “our experts have developed a Framework for a modular curriculum of teacher training colleges with the cooperation and participation of relevant ministries and academic staff in these geographical areas.”
General Education Activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (TABLA) is a three-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Save the Children. The TABLA project works in close cooperation with government actors and education authorities in the Sarajevo Canton and the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska. The general purpose of the TABLA is to improve the outcomes of students in BiH from critical thinking and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics), and to increase the capacity of teachers to include 4K (critical thinking, creativity, cooperation and communication) and apply knowledge of STEAM in the classroom.
Rector Škrijelj, with words of support for the activities on the TABLA project, pointed out that every form of cooperation that improves the processes at the University of Sarajevo is of great interest and importance for the University.
