Project DigiEdu | A series of courses for the development of digital and pedagogical competences has begun
The presentation of the DigiEdu project, launched last year by the University of Sarajevo, whose goal is the development of high-quality, inclusive and accessible higher education, was held on 23 January 2023, at the University of Sarajevo.
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj pointed out that the goal of the University is to establish a strong, sustainable institutional framework that will enable an increase in the quality of the teaching process and the improvement of student achievement. “In order to achieve goals and sustainability in the future, we need an institutional framework for the professional development of teachers and associates that will serve our teachers to contribute to the University of Sarajevo becoming a center of excellence and an example of quality in higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region” Rector Škrijelj stated.
UNSA Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović stated that with a series of ten digital and ten live courses, the University is starting to build a resource center for the professional development of teaching staff at the university.
“The courses we will prepare will be available to teachers in primary and secondary schools as the goal of UNSA is for everything it does to be a public good that will significantly contribute to the quality of education at all levels,” said Husremović.
The head of the education program at UNICEF, Mrs. Sanja Kabil, explained that the program was created to strengthen the resistance of the education system to challenges such as the pandemic, but also to the new economic reality brought by the development of technology.
This program is based on the successful long-term experiences of our members in the domain of contemporary trends in learning and teaching, including e-education, and especially on the experiences we gained during online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and on the recognition of the need to adapt higher education to digital age.
The project is financially supported by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the KS, UNICEF and USAID and the Erasmus+ PARTISH project.
For teachers and students of teaching majors, the University of Sarajevo has prepared a series of courses for the development of digital and pedagogical competencies, which will be held in the period January-February 2023.
As emphasized, the goal of the University of Sarajevo is the sustainability and ensuring the digitization of the educational process in order to use the full potential of digital technologies and content, promote progress and increase the capacity for innovation in teaching at all our members.
