University of Sarajevo Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology International Educational Workshop Co-Organizer

As a follow-up event to the 1st BH Geneticists Congress with international participation taking place in Sarajevo (Hotel Holiday, 2-4 October 2019), organized by the Genetic Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the UNSA Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology hosts an international workshop “Comet workshop - Basic comet assay techniques” that  will be held on 5 and 6 October 2019. The workshop co-organizer is the European network “hCOMET - The comet assay as a human biomonitoring tool (CA15132)”, covering the travel and accommodation costs for foreign lecturers from Norway, Portugal, Spain, France, Croatia and Turkey and scholarships for 12 international from 21 participants in total. Foreign workshop participants are from Croatia, Serbia, Turkey, Italy and the Czech Republic. The organizer and lecturer at the BH workshop is Dr. Sc. Anja Haverić, Senior UNSA Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Fellow, who represented the University of Sarajevo in this COST action id her promotional video (www.hcomet.eu).

This workshop significantly contributes to the introduction of a new widely applicable method in BH genetics and related applied scientific fields. It is also an opportunity to establish links with scientists from European centers and start new collaborative projects. Implementation of the Comet Workshop - Basic comet assay techniques was insured by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH. The startup funds for the implementation of this method at the University of Sarajevo were provided by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of the Canton of Sarajevo and the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, UNSA.
