Meeting of the University of Sarajevo Rector and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to BiH

The newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Sylvia Abu Laban, visited the University of Sarajevo today where she met with the Rector, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović.

Welcoming the Ambassador, Rector Zaimović presented the history and development of the University of Sarajevo, emphasizing its role as the oldest and largest higher education institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its importance in the development of higher education, science and international academic cooperation.

During the meeting, the possibilities of improving academic cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and universities in the State of Palestine were discussed, with a special focus on the development of inter-university partnerships, as well as the possibility of providing scholarships to Palestinian students.

The interlocutors emphasized that the University of Sarajevo has educated a significant number of students from Palestine throughout its history, many of whom are today successful experts in various fields. Ambassador Abu Laban emphasized that there is still a strong interest among Palestinian students in studying at the University of Sarajevo, emphasizing that education is one of the most important values ​​of Palestinian society and the foundation of its future development.

The meeting expressed mutual readiness to strengthen cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research through the establishment of concrete forms of institutional cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and universities in the State of Palestine.
